This is a great Deli Pocket Recipe by the Kosher Guru check out the whole recipe in the post
Dinner is something we all draw a blank when it comes to what to make. Don’t worry; I too am in the same boat most of the time. I made these the other day for my kids and they were devoured within seconds, so much so they ate them all before my daughter got home, and I was forced to make more. These deli pockets are so easy they are great for dinners and also as a side for a shabbos meal. I used premade puff pastry squares and assorted Meal Mart pre sliced turkey, pastrami, and corned beef. I did make my own honey mustard spread, but only because it took 2 extra minutes and the results were great!! My 2 year old helped me roll and put the meat onto the squares and she had a blast being my “best helper”. They are best right out of the oven as in most things, but I’m sure it would be great at room temperature as well.
Ingredients:
- Honey mustard spread (recipe to follow) (any store bought spread will work too i.e.: bbq sauce, mayonnaise and mustard combo or a mayonnaise ketchup combo)
- Precut puff pastry squares
- Pre sliced deli meat of your choice (I used a combination of Meal Mart pre sliced smoked turkey, corned beef, and pastrami)
- Fork
- Baking sheet
- 1 egg
- Pastry brush
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Roll out each puff pastry square to thin it out a bit.
- Spread the honey mustard spread onto center of the pastry.
- Add deli slices on top of spread.
- Fold pastry square in half.
- Place onto a greased cookie sheet leaving a bit of space to allow them to puff up.
- With the teeth of a fork seal the edges together.
- Whisk an egg to make an egg wash.
- Brush the pastry with egg wash .
- Bake for 20 minutes at 375 until puffed and golden.
Enjoy
